It is first week of January 2024! I am happy to kickstart my first blog! Have you set your own goal? I have! I have set my goal in career, hobby and relationship ! Today blog I will share about some tips in career and how I improve it.
First tip is don't save file in the desktop. I am one bad habit is that when there is any new document needed from stakeholder, I will create a new document and save it on desktop. Why I do so? This is because I am lazy to think where the document should locate. I am also need to write or type down something when thinking.
As a result, there are many documents in my desktop and make me feel stress. Secondly, when my colleague or boss asks me the document, I spend a lot of time to find out the document. It is low productivity !
Imagine desktop is like your house. If you just keep adding new things without sorting, your house will become messy.
How to change this bad habit? I will save all new documents in respective folder. The benefit is if I need a document, my mind will made a guess where is the document located. Moreover, you must also have a heart to do so. Ask yourself how this file will benefit you in the future. Imagine you want to refer back the document after 1 month, are you able to locate it? If yes, then your career life will be easier. Keep review the name of the folder twice in a week to ensure the document is needed for long term.
Second tips is about decision making. I realise I spend a lot of time to made decision and overthinking about future. I am the person who likes to create something that is contribute to society. I am frustrated when I am doing routine task such as checking data row by row, read the document or checking email. I always feel there is no value of this things but it is a must in career life. It is impossible every tedious task has a chance to automate. If I am doing the easy task for a long time, my mind will become lazy and lack of motivation and start thinking about meaning of life. Therefore, sometimes I purposely understand the concept behind test when developing test plan. The consequences is that the important task is not completed at last minute. When I consume too much information, it drags my time to made decision in career.
What can I do is just try your best to cover all angles when make decision. Don't afraid what happen in the future and believe it can resolve at last time. This is applicable when you are newbie at work and there is no mentor guide you. At this moment, what you can do is understanding the information, know what is the WHY in your decision and just made decision. Seek for help when necessary. Made decision based on my ability and accept the uncertainty. It will made your life less stress and have more time to enjoy life.
Third tips is being gratitude everyday.I enjoy my work but sometimes feel that about job security, uncertainty and salary. Always worry about future and not believe myself to live. I have wrong thought is that work hard will get the reward that I wish. If you have this thought, you will be suffered and your life is unhappy.Why? This is because life is full of uncertainties. If we have try our best and didn't get the reward, accept it and see what are the things you can appreciate. Count the blessings instead of blame the world. Therefore,we work hard to enjoy the process and align with personal values. Altough sometimes is painful, we believe universe will bless us to continue our journey.
I feel grateful because the job enables me to unleash my potential as engineer to contribute to the world. My company is doing test and measurement products. I should align my goals to the company. The products help Apple company to achieve quality goal and characterize R&D products.
In conclusion, save the document in respective folder when new document is created. Secondly, Made decision based on your ability and seek for help when necessary.Lastly. being gratitude everyday.
